In what I like to call “the good ol’ days,” restoring and rebuilding a car was a lot different than it is now. From what I recall, if you were serious about a project, you would have to go beg, borrow and steal from friends, neighbors, strangers and junkyards to get the parts you needed.
That was before the Internet. Now, you can find everything on the Internet, and a lot of people seem to be comfortable ordering a majority of their parts on the Internet and getting them in the mail. I’m talking about everything from chrome truck accessories to truck tool boxes to ladder racks and so on.
Now, that’s not to say there aren’t purists and people on budgets out there, but most people seem to choose the easy road, and I just don’t quite understand it. To me, restoring and rebuilding cars and trucks was all about bringing something back to life and the hunt. Those are the two natural human urges involved in auto restoration, and people are comfortable cutting out half of that.
